De Jesus Named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week

AMES, Iowa – Addy De Jesus was rewarded with the title of Big 12 Gymnast of the Week after her strong performance at Illinois State on Sunday. This is the second time this season that De Jesus has been named Gymnast of the Week. The previous win came after her historic 10.000 on vault at Denver on Jan. 31. She also won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week that weekend.

De Jesus' second Gymnast of the Week victory marks the first time since 2012 that an Iowa State gymnast has picked up multiple Gymnast of the Week awards in the same season. Michelle Browning was Big 12 Gymnast of the Week three times in 2012.

De Jesus led the Cyclones on floor, vault, and beam to earn her second-highest all-around score of the season at 39.350. She picked up event wins for vault, beam, and all-around, and tied for the win on floor with teammate Maddie Diab.

Individually, De Jesus is tied for 14th nationally on vault and is ranked 28th in the all-around.

De Jesus and the No. 24 Cyclones are back in Hilton Coliseum on Monday where they will be taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers for the second time this season. The meet is set to begin at 6:30 pm on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
