Cyclones Open Big 12 Play Against Baylor and Texas

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State tennis will be heading to Texas this weekend as they face two ranked foes to open conference play. The No. 42-ranked Cyclones will play No. 12 Baylor on Friday and No. 2 Texas on Sunday in their first two Big 12 matches.
THE SCHEDULE
Friday, Mar. 12 - 12:00 p.m.
No. 42 Iowa State (8-2) vs. No. 12 Baylor (12-2)
Sunday, Mar. 14 - 11:00 a.m.
No. 42 Iowa State (8-2) vs. No. 2 Texas (10-1)
The Cyclones will face the Bears in the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco. Iowa State and Texas will play at the Texas Tennis Center in Austin.
THE SERIES
Iowa State will be seeking its first-ever road win in Waco when they face the Bears on Friday. Baylor owns a 25-1 record against the Cyclones all-time. Iowa State's lone win came in 2019 when the Cyclones upset the Bears, 4-3, in Urbandale.
The Cyclones have struggled against the Longhorns all-time as Texas holds an undefeated record over Iowa State. Their record is 23-0 against the Cyclones and 11-0 at home. Last year Iowa State lost on the road to the Longhorns, 6-1.
UNDEFEATED NEWCOMERS
Iowa State added two talented players this spring and both have yet to disappoint. Miska Kadleckova holds the best dual singles record on the team at 10-0 while fellow newcomer, Sofia Cabezas, has also remained undefeated with an 8-0 singles record.
They've combined for an overall record of 31-5 throughout singles and doubles play, a .861 winning percentage.Â
