AMES, Iowa – Iowa State gymnast Addy De Jesus was named to the 2021 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Second Team All-American on both vault and all-around, announced Thursday. De Jesus earned this status after tying for tenth place nationally on both events with a national qualifying score (NQS) of 9.931 on vault and 39.575 for all-around.
The junior becomes the first Cyclone to earn All-American honors on more than one event since Janet Anson in 2006, and the first to earn All-American all-around honors since Anson the same year. De Jesus is the fourth Iowa State gymnast to be named All-American in all-around and the third on the vault.
Along the way to earning All-American honors, De Jesus put together a historic season for the Cyclones. She tied the school record for all-around twice, scoring a 39.600 in back-to-back meets. De Jesus also became only the fourth gymnast in ISU history to score a perfect 10.000, and the third to hit a perfect vault. In her first year at Iowa State, De Jesus quickly became one of the school's most decorated gymnasts. She won four weekly awards, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, was named to the All-Big 12 team on vault, and tied to win the Big 12 floor title.
De Jesus and the No. 20 Cyclones are back in action at the 2021 NCAA Gymnastics Championships Tuscaloosa Regional next Friday at 1 p.m.
