No. 33 Cyclones Beat K-State, 4-2

AMES, Iowa – No. 33 Iowa State surrendered the doubles point but rallied back to defeat Kansas State, 4-2, to earn its 16^th-straight home win and a school-record third conference win of the season.

The Cyclones improve to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 action with their third victory in as many matches. K-State falls to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in conference action.

The Wildcats won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3, forcing the Cyclones into a tough spot of needing to win four of the six singles contests.

But the Cyclones responded.

Christin Hsieh cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Margot Decker at No. 4 singles to get the Cyclones on the board. Shortly after, Chie Kezuka finished her 6-4, 6-2 win over Manami Ukita, avenging a fall season loss, as ISU went ahead, 2-1.

Senior Maty Cancini increased the lead to 3-1 with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Maria Linares at No. 2 singles.

The Wildcats would bounce back and take No. 1 singles, but freshman Miska Kadleckova, playing at No. 3 singles for just the fifth time this season, rallied in the first set to win 6-4 and then followed with a thrilling 7-6 (7-5) win in the second to claim the match.

Iowa State will host No. 44 Kansas on Sunday as it celebrates Cancini's Senior Day prior to the match. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Forker Tennis Courts.
