STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 31 Iowa State dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 47 Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center. The Cyclones fall to 12-6 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 action, while Oklahoma State improves to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The Cowgirls took the doubles point behind wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. ISU was knotted up 4-4 with Maty Cancini and Sofia Cabezas playing at the No. 3 spot when the point was clinched.
Cabezas was the lone Cyclone to earn a singles point as four of the six matches were decided in the third set. The sophomore earned the 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 win against Daniella Medvedeva to improve to 12-3 in singles action this spring.
The Cyclones won first sets at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5, but were unable to hold off their Cowgirl opponents.
Iowa State's regular season finale at West Virginia has been canceled due to the Mountaineers suspending the remainder of their season. The Cyclones will be back in action at the Big 12 Championships April 22-25 in Waco, Texas.
