AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State gymnastics team saw a historic season in the midst of the many challenges of 2021. The team finished the season No. 21 in the RoadToNationals rankings, marking the fourth-straight season ISU has finished in the Top 25, the second-longest end-of-season run in program history.
The Cyclones' year was capped off with a national ranking on the vault tied of T-11, their highest ranking since 2006. Iowa State also saw their highest finish on beam since 2010, ranking No. 21 to finish out the season. The team also concluded the season ranked No. 23 on bars and No. 26 on floor.

Despite many challenges, including having to pause their season briefly in February, the Cyclones were able to push through and excel in 2021. The team broke records, earned awards and saw multiple school records be matched. The Cyclones earned a total of five Big 12 Weekly awards, with Addy De Jesus grabbing pairs of Newcomer of the Week and Gymnast of the Week awards, and Natalie Horowitz earning a Co-Event Specialist of the Week award. This is the first campaign since 2011 that ISU has won all three weekly awards at least once in the same season. Addy De Jesus became the first gymnast in Iowa State history to win Gymnast of the Week and Newcomer of the Week in the same week. De Jesus also earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and was named to the All-Big 12 team on vault.

This included a streak in which the Cyclones bested seven-straight opponents, the longest win streak since the 2006 season. The team closed out the regular season with a score of 196.825, the highest of the Ronayne Era to that point. They then bested that score as they began their postseason hopes with a 197.050 at the Big 12 Championships, with the score being tied for seventh-highest in Iowa State history.
