NORMAN, Okla. – No. 31 Iowa State saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Friday evening with a 4-0 loss to No. 25 Oklahoma at Headington Family Tennis Center. With the loss, Iowa State drops to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 action, while Oklahoma improves to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
The Sooners jumped out to an early lead by earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Oklahoma, which had four ranked players in its lineup, went up 2-0 with No. 109 Marcelina Podlinska's 6-2, 6-2 win over Sofia Cabezas at No. 6 singles.
80th-ranked Dana Cuzman beat Maty Cancini, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and Martina Capurro clinched the match with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles.
The Cyclones were leading at No. 1 singles as Thasaporn Naklo held a 7-6 (5), 3-1 lead over No. 97 Carmen Corley. Miska Kadleckova also had an advantage at No. 3 singles over No. 91 Ivana Corley when the match was wrapped up.
The Cyclones return to action Sunday against No. 47 Oklahoma State at 11 a.m.
