Vlahovic, Amos Get Wins for ISU at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska – A pair of victories from the Iowa State women led the Cyclones on Saturday at the Graduate Classic. The victories came in the shorter distances, with Katarina Vlahovic getting her second 60-meter hurdles win of the season, and Zakiyah Amos impressing again in the 600-meter run.
Vlahovic took care of business right away, earning the top seed for the final with a prelim mark of 8.41. She was strong again in the final 90 minutes later, crossing first again in 8.42. This win goes with her previous victory she got at the ISU Winter Invitational back in December. Teammate Kaylyn Hall took sixth, her best time of the day coming in the prelims at 8.53.
Amos impressed last month in Ames with a personal best 54.70 in the 400-meter dash to enter ISU's all-time top-10 for the event. The distance went up for her by 200 meters on Saturday, but she still delivered, taking the 600-meter run in 1:33.47, over two seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
In the field, Jonathan Gannon had a career-best day in the men's shot put, taking the top spot in the first flight and earning a spot in the final, finishing ninth overall with a best throw and personal best of 49-9 3/4 (15.18m).

Iowa State returns to the Lied Recreation Athletics Center next Saturday for the Cyclone Open. Competition begins with field events at noon and running events at 1 p.m.
