AMES, Iowa – The fifth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones hit the road Friday night to face No. 18 Northern Iowa in an in-state showdown at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls. The match will be streamed live on FloWrestling and available on Cedar Falls Utilities Channel 15 in Cedar Falls. Live results will be available on TrackWrestling.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State enters Friday's dual with the second-longest dual winning streak in the country with 11-straight victories. Penn State holds the top spot with 27 straight. Central Michigan (10) and Cornell (8) are the only other schools with more than six-straight victories in the country.
-Last weekend, the Cyclones won a pair of duals at Hilton Coliseum against West Virginia (31-9) and Air Force (27-12) in the final two duals of the year at Hilton.
-The Cyclones were a perfect 8-0 in duals in January, the first time Iowa State has been perfect in a month with more than three duals since going 4-0 in February 2015.
-In 10 duals in 2022, Iowa State has lost just 16 matches. The Cyclones are 84-16 in dual matches on the back portion of the schedule and given up bonus points three times.
-The Cyclones have tallied 305 takedowns in duals this season, led by 63 from Yonger Bastida. David Carr (36) and Sam Schuyler (33) join Bastida with over 30 takedowns. In his two technical falls over the weekend, Bastida recorded 17 takedowns.
-Jarrett Degen leads the Cyclones with nine four-point nearfalls, while Marcus Coleman has six. Degen also has a team-leading four two-point nearfalls, while Bastida has three.
