Academics Announces Student-Athletes Of The Month

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Athletics Academic Services announced that four Cyclone student-athletes have been honored for their hard work and dedication in the classroom during the month of March. Iowa State's Student-Athletes of the Month are Lachlan Barker (men's golf), Liyana Durisic (women's golf), Kelsey Perry (volleyball) and Myles Purchase (football).
Lachlan Barker – Senior (Men's Golf)
Hometown: Willunga, Australia
Major: Finance and Business Analytics
Lachlan is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree. He has played a vital role on the men's golf team and was a three-time NCAA Regional qualifier. He has also ranked second on the team in stroke average the past four season, finishing with a 72.94 stroke average last season.
Liyana Durisic – Sophomore (Women's Golf)
Hometown: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Major: Kinesiology
Liyana has been a key member of the Iowa State women's golf team. Last season she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team . She also ended the season ranked 90th nationally by Golfstat and led the team in stroke average at 73.13 in 2020-21. Her 73.13 stroke average marked the fifth-best season total in school history.
Kelsey Perry – Freshman (Volleyball)
Hometown: Frisco, Texas
Major: Pre-Business
Kelsey joined the Cyclone volleyball team at the start of the spring semester. She is a 2021 AVCA Girls High School Honorable Mention All-American and another 2021 AVCA All-Region 4 Team member.
Myles Purchase – Freshman (Football)
Hometown: Denver, Colorado
Major: Communications Studies
Myles is in his first season with the Iowa State football team. He played in 13 games and earned one start, while recording 14 total tackles and a pass breakup. He earned his first career start against Clemson in the Cheez-It Bowl.
