AMES, Iowa – Laura Cooke has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 At-Large First Team. The Academic All-District teams divide student-athletes into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
Cooke is the fifth Cyclone gymnast in program history, and first since 2009, to receive the honor.
The Norwich, England native competed on bars in all 13 meets this season and floor in 11 meets. She earned a career-high 9.900 on floor at the first two home meets against Nebraska and West Virginia. Cooke also saw a personal-best 9.900 on bars at the GymQuarters Invitational.
Cooke helped the Cyclones to their 14th NCAA Regional in the last 15 seasons, including a win over Western Michigan in the First Round.
Cooke, who is a 3.97 student in Kinesiology and Health with a minor in Psychology, was named the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year last month. Cooke is also a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and a 2020 WCGA Scholastic All-American.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
