AMES, Iowa – The No. 26 Iowa State women's cross country team returns to the course on Friday with the Roy Griak Invitational. The Jack Johnson Women's Gold (Division I) Competition will begin at 11:15 a.m. Central on the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
There will be no live video of the competition. Live results will be provided by Prime Time Timing, here.
The Iowa State women return to action for the first time in just over three weeks, having opened the season on Sept. 1 at the Mizzou XC Opener. The Cyclone effort was led by Dana Feyen, who pulled away for the victory with a 5K time of 17:24.2. Feyen, who was named Big 12 Runner of the Week for her efforts, led an ISU 1-2-3 with Madelynn Hill taking second (17:26.3) and Janette Schraft getting third (17:43.4). The Cyclones showed good depth, getting seven student-athletes in the Mizzou XC Opener Top 10.
There will be a step-up in competition at the Roy Griak Invitational, with the 21-team field featuring five ranked programs (including the Cyclones). Iowa State will be battling for the team title with No. 14 Colorado State, No. 19 Utah, No. 23 Michigan State, No. 29 Cal Baptist and hosts Minnesota, who are just outside the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll rankings this week. Iowa State was second to the host Golden Gophers at the 2021 Roy Griak Invitational, with seven Cyclones among last season's squad entered to toe the line again at the Griak tomorrow.
