AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (9-6, 1-1 Big 12) builds off the momentum of sealing a top-15 win over No. 13 Baylor with a road match this Sunday at Kansas State (9-6, 0-2 Big 12). The match will be nationally televised on ESPNU beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Iowa State leads the all-time series 57-41. In the last 10 meetings, the Cyclones are 8-2 against the Wildcats while the teams split the two matchups last season.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State sealed the 45th program win over a top-25 team, with 40 of them coming under Christy Johnson-Lynch. The team snapped a 21-game losing streak versus ranked opponents while picking up the 14th of the program over a top-15 contender in the match against No. 13 Baylor.
Baylor entered the match riding a 10-match win streak before Iowa State put an end to it hitting over .300 for the third time this season. Prior to the match, Baylor had held opponents to a conference-leading .153 hitting percentage, also the 15th-best nationally.
Eleanor Holthaus overpowered the Bears, delivering 20 kills at .410 hitting while adding 10 digs to notch her third double-double of the season. Holtaus ascended 3,000 career kills, now holding 1,313 to come a mere 21 from breaking into the top five in Iowa State history.
Brooke Stonestreet had 20 digs on the match, with 10 coming from the second set. It is the second time this season Stonestreet has tallied 10 digs in a single set.
KANSAS STATE
Kansas State leads the Big 12 with an average of 1.84 aces per set and is second in digs with 14.04 per set. Elena Baka leads the Wildcats in kills with 164 and Shaylee Myers holds a team-best 3.79 kills per set on 129 kills.
K-State opened conference hosting Kansas where the Wildcats battled back after going down 0-2, but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell in the fifth set. K-State also met Texas Tech in conference play this season, falling in the first and second set by a combined five points and were ultimately swept in the third, 15-25.
