DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa State defeated Northern Illinois, 194.875-194.675, at the Chow's Winter Classic Invitational at Hy-Vee Hall Saturday evening. This is the Cyclones' sixth-straight win over the Huskies under head coach Jay Ronayne.
Junior Kaia Parker scored a 9.875 on vault, which was a meet high. Hannah Loyim tied for the highest score on beam, with a score of 9.875. Senior Maddie Diab also scored a meet high on floor, scoring a 9.925. This marks Diab's first score of 9.900 or better on the season, after leading the team with nine such scores last year.
Vault
Iowa State started the meet off tallying a 48.975 on vault. The Cyclones were led by Parker, who scored a career-high of 9.875. Two other Cyclones set personal highs on vault; Diab posted a 9.800 and Ana Irene Palacios a 9.775. Emilie Hong also scored a 9.775. Kelsey Boychuk rounded out vault with a 9.750.
Bars
The Cyclones earned a score of 47.725 on bars. The team was led by Madelyn Langkamp and Laura Cooke, who both scored a 9.825. Loyim also notched a score of 9.775. Loganne Basuel and Lauren Thomas each scored a 9.225 and a 9.075, respectively.
Beam
Iowa State scored a total of 49.150 on beam, led by Loyim, who scored a career-high on beam with a 9.875. Both Lauren Thomas and Josie Bergstrom notched scores of 9.850, and Natalie Horowitz scored a 9.825.
Floor
Iowa State posted a total 49.025 on floor. The Cyclones were led by Diab, who put up a strong 9.925. Laura Cooke posted a 9.875, followed by Palacios, who scored a career-high on floor with a 9.825. Alondra Maldonado and Boychuk rounded out the floor scoring with 9.750 and 9.650.
