Cyclones take on UC Davis and Eastern Michigan in Home Opener

The Lead: After a season-opening win over Northern Illinois in the Chow's Winter Classic, the Iowa State Gymnastics team will host Eastern Michigan and UC Davis in a Tri-meet at Hilton Coliseum. The meet begins at 6:30 p.m. and can be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

Storylines:

This is the third meeting for Iowa State against Eastern Michigan and UC Davis.
Iowa State holds a 2-0 advantage over EMU and UC Davis in the all-time series.
Last week, the Cyclones defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies 194.875-194.675.
Against the Huskies, Kaia Parker, Maddie Diab, Hannah Loyim, and Ana Irene Palacios set new career-highs.

Against NIU, Iowa State posted the 13th-highest beam score in the country (49.150).

Switching Sides:

The Aggies are led by Interim Head Coach, Tanya Ho. Ho previously coached for Alaska Anchorage from 2018-20. Ho won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Coach of the Year in 2019.
Eastern Michigan's head coach, Katie Minasola, is in her sixth season as head coach of the Eagles. She enters the season with a record of 37-43-1. Minasola was an assistant coach and associate head coach for Iowa State Gymnastics between 2012-2017.
Eastern Michigan and UC Davis have already faced off this season at the Arizona State Triangular on Jan. 13. UC Davis placed second and EMU placed third with scores of 193.950 and 192.150 respectively.
