DES MOINES, Iowa – No. 22 Iowa State started the spring season off strong with two 7-0 sweeps against the Drake Bulldogs and South Dakota Coyotes.

No. 17 Ange Oby Kajuru and Chie Kezuka proved why they are ranked in the nation's top-20 in doubles with a comfortable 6-3 victory against Drake's Darinka Stepan and Mille Haagensen. Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas also took care of business with a 6-3 win over Oriana Parkins-Godwin and Ines Stephani. Kadleckova and Cabezas improve to 7-0 on the season in doubles against non-Iowa State opponents.
In singles, Kadleckova was the first to finish as she took down Stepan again, 6-2, 6-1.
Iowa State's two ranked players in singles also brought home victories.
No. 57 Thasaporn Naklo had two close sets as she was able to come out on top against Stephani, 6-4, 6-4. Cabezas, the nation's 114th-ranked player, also had a match that went down to the wire as she defeated Elizabete Klavinska in two tight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
This is the Cyclones' seventh straight victory against Drake, tying the all-time series between the two schools at 30-30.

The Cyclones followed the win over Drake with a convincing 7-0 sweep of South Dakota.
All three doubles matches for the Cyclones were short and sweet against the Coyotes.
Thasaporn Naklo paired with freshman Xinyi Nong for the first match of her collegiate career. The duo faced Anna Medvyedyeva and Eesha Varma and quickly finish the match with a 6-0 victory.
No. 17 ranked Ange Oby Kajuru and Chie Kezuka also finished their match in a hurry, defeating Paige Alter and Bea Havlickova, 6-2.
In singles, Nong made quick work of Selena Bird with two straight 6-0 sets to earn her first singles collegiate victory.
No. 57 Naklo moved up in three different record book categories after today's matches. With 125 career wins, the senior from Bangkok, Thailand, puts herself at No. 7 all-time in program history. Her 66 singles wins and 59 doubles wins has her at No. 5 and tied for eighth, respectively, all time in program history.
"We handled ourselves really well and professionally," head coach Boomer Saia said. "Really pleased with today across the board."
