THE SERIES
Friday will mark the first meeting between the Cyclones and the Tigers, and it will be a battle of two of the nation's top-25 teams. Head coach Boomer Saia currently has 13 wins to date against ranked opponents.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for a doubleheader in their dual opener. The Cyclones rolled past both Drake and South Dakota, 7-0, not giving up a team point in either match. To read more about last Saturday, click here.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Miska Kadleckova recently cracked the program's top-20 in all-time career wins, and she is on the verge of more. With a collegiate record of 98-39 she is two wins away from the 100-win milestone. The junior from Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, would be the third athlete recruited by Saia to hit this mark, joining teammates Thasaporn Naklo and Chie Kezuka.
Kadleckova has had an impressive junior year to date. She currently leads her team in overall wins to date this season with a record of 28-10. Of those 28 wins, six of them are against ranked opponents, also a team high. She also also two wins away from setting a new program record for wins at the No. 3 singles spot.
CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HIT
This is the first ranked opponent Saia and his team will face this season. Of their 17 remaining opponents, four were ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's most recent Top 25, and 12 qualified for the Division I Women's Tennis Championships.
NAKLO'S WINS STREAK
With wins last weekend against Drake and South Dakota, the senior extended her winning streak dating back to the fall. Naklo has won her last nine singles and doubles matches. During her winning streak, Naklo has taken down a total of four ranked opponents, two in singles and two in doubles. She will look to extend her streak as Auburn has three singles players and two doubles pairs ranked.
BOOMER'S TAKE
"Taking advantage of the opportunity and approaching the match how we want to," Saia said. "It's not going to play Auburn who is ranked, its going in and approaching the match how we want and how we will against every opponent this season."
