AMES, Iowa – Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Jeremy Sudbury has announced the addition of Ian Frazier as the Director of Operations/Assistant Coach. Frazier joins the Cyclones after serving as the Florida State University Operations Assistant for the women's cross country program.
"I am excited to welcome Ian to our program, he has done a phenomenal job behind the scenes at FSU in assisting with their successes and is a big believer in details matter to win championships," Sudbury said. "His eagerness to hit the ground running in the middle of the season is welcomed as the rest of the staff and I have big goals for year two together."
As the Director of Operations, Frazier will take care of administrative and logistical aspects of the track and field/cross country program, including team travel, budgeting, equipment orders and home meet operations.
At Florida State, Frazier was part of the staff that most recently led the FSU women's program to an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Prior to his time as a Seminole, he served as an assistant coach from 2018 to 2020 at Blue Valley Northwest High School before being promoted to head coach in the summer of 2020.
"Ian's background as a former teacher and high school coach in Kansas is an added bonus as the skills he learned in the classroom have prepared him to be an excellent educator of our sport," Sudbury said.
Frazier also interned with HOKA ONE-ONE Northern Arizona Elite in the summer of 2017 assisting the head coach with the team's athletes. Frazier served as a counselor at Joe Bill Dixon's Wilderness Running Camp from 2013-16 with planning and leading training runs and exercises.
Frazier is a 2018 graduate of the University of Central Missouri where he was a member of the cross country and track and field programs. Frazier qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships and was a consistent piece to the track distance squad from 2014-18.
