MEDIA CENTER
No. 21 Iowa State, fresh off a midweek open date, returns to action looking to end its first losing skid of the season, taking on West Virginia in Morgantown. The Cyclones will be back in action for the first time since last Saturday at Hilton Coliseum, when ISU fell 76-70 to Baylor.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall:Â WVU Leads 12-11
In Morgantown:Â WVU Leads 7-3
Fennelly vs. WVU:Â 11-12
FOUR THINGS
1 – Win needed by head coach Bill Fennelly to reach 750 for his career. Of those 749, 583 have come during his tenure at Iowa State (the other 166 at Toledo).
2 – Ashley Joens is two starts away from becoming the Big 12 record holder for career starts, a number that currently stands at 148 by Baylor's Brittney Griner (2010-13). Joens is also in range of the Big 12 record for career games played, held by TCU's Lauren Heard (2018-22) at 153.
14 – 3-pointers needed by Iowa State to reach 200 made 3-pointers for a 21st-straight season.
883 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 883 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
DIEW-ING MORE
Nyamer Diew had a career-best week last week. She began by recording her first career double-double at Kansas State, finishing with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. She followed that up against Baylor last Saturday with a career-high 25 points (previous best: 15), which saw her go 10-of-13 from the field.
ANOTHER TOP 25
Ashley Joens has helped the Cyclones be a consistent presense in the AP Top 25 over the past two seasons, but her individual output is now putting her in range of another top-25: the NCAA Division I All-Time leading scorers. She enters Saturday with 2,792 career points, good for 29th all-time in Division I and is within range of 28th (2,796, Andrea Congreaves - Mercer), 27th (2,803, Crystal Kelly - Western Kentucky), 26th (2,804 - Megan Gustafson - Iowa) and 25th (2,818 - Jandel Lavender, Ohio State).
