AMES, Iowa – No. 11 seed and 12th-ranked Iowa State makes its first appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament Wednesday when it faces No. 3 seed and 4th-ranked NC State at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The winner will advance to take on the winner of Stanford and Texas A&M on Friday.

The Series
Iowa State meets NC State for just the second time. The only previous meeting came in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in Raleigh. The Wolfpack won that match, 4-2.
Thasaporn Naklo earned Iowa State's highest-ranked win in the match, defeating No. 6 Anna Rodgers, 6-3, 6-1. Miska Kadleckova picked up the other win for the Cyclones, defeating Adriana Reami, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.

Last Time Out
Iowa State finished out its home schedule with a 7-0 record after beating UCLA, 4-1, Friday in Ames. The Cyclones took the doubles point to capture early control of the match.
Ange Oby Kajuru put the Cyclones on the board first in singles play as well, defeating Kimmi Hance in quick fashion, 6-4, 6-1. After the Bruins closed the gap with a win at No. 3 singles, Thasaporn Naklo upset No. 14 Fangran Tian, 7-6 (3), 6-0), and moments later Sofia Cabezas clinched the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles.

Iowa State is now 4-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament as it makes its third appearance.
Player to Watch
Thasaporn Naklo notched her ninth ranked singles win of the season and the 23rd of her career last weekend when she beat No. 14 Fangran Tian, handing the Bruin just her second loss of the season.
Naklo is now 5-1 in singles play during the NCAA Championships in her career.
