Narker Earns First Singles Win at the Duel in the Desert

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Ashlee Narker picked up her first collegiate singles win as the Cyclones competed on day two of the Duel in the Desert.
Iowa State competed against Kansas in a hidden dual format on the second day of competition at the Duel in the Desert. In doubles action, Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Isabella Dunlap got their first doubles win of the spring season as they took down Kansas' Gracie Mulville and Heike Janse Van Vuuren, 7-6. Juliette Nask and Ashlee Narker would take on Kyoka Kubo and Jocelyn Massey, falling, 4-6. Finally, Gala Arangio and Valeska San Martin Ramirez would go up against Silvia Maria Costache and Maria Titova, dropping the match, 1-6.
Narker would highlight singles action as she earned her first collegiate singles win against Massey, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Nask and Caroline Nicholls would also pick up singles wins during day 2. Nask took down Van Vuuren, 7-6, 6-4, while Nicholls won a tightly contested match against Kylin Sadler, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, improving her to 2-0 this weekend.
Kuearum battled for three sets against No. 110 Gracie Mulville before ultimately falling, 5-7, 6-2, 3-6. Isabella Dunlap went up against Maria Titova in a hard-fought match, falling 1-6, 6-4, 1-6. Gala Arangio faced off against Kyoka Kubo dropping the match, 3-6, 1-6. Finally, Valeska San Martin Ramirez fell to Silvia Maria Costache in two contested sets, 4-6, 4-6.
The Cyclones will finish the Duel in the Desert on Saturday as they play matches against Clemson players at 2 p.m. CT.
