AMES, Iowa – Iowa State is set to send senior Anna Supapitch Kuearum to the ITA Super Regionals as she vies for a spot in the NCAA Individual Tournament, while four of her teammates will travel to Houston to compete in the Rice Invitational.
Kuearum earned an invitation to the Super Regionals after her performance at the ITA Central Regional in October. Kuearum is set to face No. 27 Cristina Tiglea in round one of the tournament on Thursday. The competition features 32 players with the top six advancing to the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas. The six players will be made up of the four semifinalists and two of the four quarterfinal losers.
The four players representing the Cyclones at Rice will be Ashlee Narker, Cristina Ramos Sierra, Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Gabriela Felix. The tournament kicks off on Friday and concludes Sunday. It will feature both singles and doubles action.
Last Time Out
The Cyclones are coming off a trip to Des Moines where they posted a 12-9 overall record at the Bulldog Classic, hosted by Drake. Freshman Julia Camblor went undefeated in singles in the tournament.
