AMES, Iowa – Angelina Allen has been named the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after a stellar weekend at the UNLV Desert Classic. Allen helped the ISU softball team to a 4-1 mark in five games, the best record of any team in the field.
The junior went 11-for-19 at the plate, a blistering .579 average, with four doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs. Allen also drew three walks and only struck out twice as she reached base at a .636 clip.
One of Allen's home runs was an inside-the-park home run, the first by an ISU player since 2017.
Allen registered four multi-hit performances, including three-hit outings in wins over UC Santa Barbara and Bradley. The California native tied a career best with four RBIs Saturday against Bradley.
Iowa State is back next weekend, Feb. 23-25, in Charlottesville, Va., as it is set to take part in the Rawlings Classic. The tournament features host-team Virginia, Lehigh and Delaware.
About the Cyclone Club
The Cyclone Club spearheads the fundraising efforts for the Iowa State Athletic department and gifts of all sizes directly impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes at Iowa State. Annual Cyclone Club gifts provide ISU student-athletes the opportunity to compete in their sport at the highest level, while preparing them to utilize their Iowa State degree once their athletic careers have concluded. Iowa State Athletics does not receive any State or University funding to operate, thereby making it one of the nation's only financially self-sufficient athletic programs.
