AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team finished up a successful weekend in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Sunday by going 4-0 overall and claiming another flight championship.
Freshman Julia Camblor won the Flight C singles title after beating Oregon's Olivia Symons due to injury retirement. She advanced to the title match on Saturday after winning her first and second round matches.
Cristina Ramos Sierra finished her weekend on a high note by beating the Ducks' Marjorie Souza, 7-6 (2), 6-3, in an extra singles match. Suzanie Pretorius did the same by defeating Karin Young from Oregon, 6-1, 6-3.
Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Ashlee Narker were named co-champions of singles Flight A as they both advanced to the finals, but their match against each other was abandoned.
In doubles, Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Pretorius defeated Wyoming's Elena Trencheva and Ruby Young, 6-4, to claim third place in Flight B.
The Cyclones also had co-champions of the doubles Flight A with the duo of Kuearum and Narker, along with the pair of Camblor and Ramos both advancing to the finals.
