AMES, Iowa - No. 27 Iowa State (2-1) claimed a pair of wins over Iowa (1-1) and Brown (0-2) in their home opener, posting a season-best score of 195.100.   Â
"I think it was very exciting for us to open our season at home hosting these two teams," said Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig. "This team continues to show that we are going to take the steps that are necessary to make improvements, so we're going to keep our heads down, keep working hard and keep improving."Â Â
Following their season-opener in Baton Rouge against the defending national champions, the Cyclones bounced back with a solid showing in front of their home faithful. The Cyclones had several strong standouts this evening, including a tie of 9.900s between senior Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and sophomore Noelle Adams on vault. They finished the tri-meet with a 195.100. The Cyclones had five event winners on the evening: Adams and Bergstrom-Te Slaa on vault, Lauren Thomas on beam, and Haylee Hardin and Adams on floor. Â
Please note: the win over Iowa was not part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. That meet will be held later this season in Iowa City. The Cyclones still hold the lead in the series, 11-8, with tennis, gymnastics and softball left. Â
Vault (49.075)
The Cyclones kicked off the evening on vault. Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and Noelle Adams were the two leaders each scoring a 9.900 for the Cyclones. Noelle tied her career high on the event. This senior/sophomore duo lead the team last week on vault against LSU as well. For the second straight week, vault was ISU's highest-scoring event.Â

Iowa State's second event of the night was the uneven bars. Sophomore Paige Wills was the standout on bars, earning a 9.775 for the Cyclones. Following close behind her, was senior Bergstrom-Te Slaa, who scored a 9.700. Bergstrom-Te Slaa also earned a new career high with her score this evening. Â
