Shulzhenko, Alberto Vilar Fall in Round of 16

Ames, Iowa – Stanislava Shulzhenko and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar's historic doubles run ended on Thursday afternoon in the NCAA Doubles Championships Round of 16. The pair became the first players in school history to make the NCAA Doubles Championships and added to it by winning their first-round game on Wednesday.
Shulzhenko and Alberto Vilar fought hard against USC's Lily Fairclough and Daniela Borruel, but came up short in back-to-back set tiebreakers, falling by a score of 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5). The pair will look to continue the momentum they set into the 2026 spring season.
