Iowa State wrapped up day two of competition at both the 2025 USÂ Open Championships and the Minnesota Invitational, highlighted by another finals appearance from Grace Swoboda in the 100m breaststroke and a strong top-eight finish from Kate Mitchell on 3 meter boards.
How It Happened
The Cyclones were represented once again by Grace Swoboda, who advanced to the B-final of the 100 breaststroke after a strong morning swim. In the evening session, Swoboda clocked a 1:11.15, finishing seventh in her heat and closing well for day two. Her race marks her second finals appearance in the US Open Championships.
Matilde Geromin also competed in the 100 breaststroke prelims, swimming a time of 1:12.66.
Iowa State divers returned to action for the 3 meter championship, where Kate Mitchell once again led the way. After placing sixth in prelims with a score of 275.75, Mitchell advanced to the final and delivered a strong performance, finishing seventh overall with 281.00 points.
Iowa State placed five divers inside the top 25 of prelims, earning valuable experience against a number of repeatable opponents.

Competition continues Saturday as the Cyclones move into day three in both Austin and Minneapolis, with more swimming events at the U.S. Open and platform and platform diving up next for the divers.
