AMES, Iowa. - Iowa State (4-8, 1-4 Big 12) fell to BYU (5-10, 3-3 Big 12) on Friday night. ISU finished with 194.175, and BYU with 195.900.Â
"It was really special to have our alumni back in Hilton and for them to be able to see what this program has become," said Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig. "Not our best showing of course, but I was happy to see the way the team continued to fight and close out the meet strong on floor. We have another opportunity at home next week, so we're just going to focus on what's next, and get back in the gym and make some adjustments."
The Cyclones had some strong standout in every event on Friday evening against the BYU Cougars. Freshmen Haylee Hardin and Frederique Sgarbossa were once again high scorers for Iowa State. Hardin led on floor with a 9.875 and Sgarbossa on bars with a 9.875 as well. Friday evening was also the Alumni meet for Iowa State, and the Cyclones welcomed back gymnasts from both men's and women's teams. There was also a special recognition for the 2000 women's gymnastics team and their Big 12 championship. Iowa State will return to Hilton next week as they host NC State and Denver.Â

Haylee Hardin and Noelle Adams were the high scorers on vault this evening, each putting up 9.775 on the board. Paige Wills and Rachel Wilke followed close behind with 9.750s.Â

The Cyclones were led by Frederique Sgarbossa on bars tonight who put up a 9.875. Kaia Bochow was another standout on bars with a score of 9.800. Tonight's event total is the second highest of the season for Iowa State. Â
