STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 3 Iowa State fell at No. 5 Oklahoma State, 24-9, Sunday afternoon inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys took the first seven bouts before the Cyclones claimed the final three.
The margins were razor thin as seven of the ten bouts were decided by a takedown or less. Iowa State fell to 9-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Big 12 while Oklahoma State improved to 12-1 overall an 7-0 in league duals.
Iowa State dropped the opening seven bouts before No. 12 Isaac Dean got the Cyclones on the board at 184 pounds. Dean defeated Trevor Dopps via 5-1 decision for the Cyclones' first win of the day.
No. 1 Rocky Elam made it two in a row for the Cyclones with a gritty 4-1 decision over No. 7 Cody Merrill. Elam secured a last-second takedown in tiebreakers to secure the victory.
Top-ranked Yonger Bastida was never threatened as he closed the dual with a 5-2 decision over No. 6 Konner Doucet.
