AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team returns home for two matches this weekend after taking down UNLV in Las Vegas. The Cyclones will look to get above .500 for the first time this season against Illinois Friday, before the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Sunday.

THE SERIES
Friday will be the seventh meeting all-time between Iowa State and Illinois, with the Illini taking each of the previous six matchups. The Illini blanked the Cyclones, 4-0, in 2025, with the most recent matchup before that coming in 1991.
Sunday will be the 54th edition of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series, with Iowa leading the all-time series, 42-11. However, the Cyclones have won four of the last five meetings, including a 4-3 thriller in 2025.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State won in thrilling, comeback fashion over UNLV on Friday. After losing the doubles point and four of six first sets in singles, the Cyclones rallied to tie the score up at 3-3, before Valeska San Martin Ramirez delivered the final blow in a third-set tiebreaker to give the Cyclones the 4-3 victory.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Stanislava Shulzhenko is coming off two singles victories in her last two matches, defeating Wichita State's Kristina Kudryavtseva, 6-2, 7-5, before taking down UNLV's Hudson Hawkins, 6-4, 6-3. The North Texas transfer is also ranked No. 51 in doubles with Mari Paz Alberto Vilar, and downed Carolina Lindahl and Emilia Korseth from St. Thomas in their last complete match.
