AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving returns to Beyer Pool on Friday, February 6, to host the Kansas Jayhawks for a Big 12 dual meet. The meet also serves as Senior Day, as the Cyclones honor their graduating seniors prior to competition.
Senior Day and Fan Information
Friday's meet will celebrate Iowa State's seniors and their contributions to the program. A Senior Day ceremony will take place prior to the start of the meet, and fans will have the opportunity to meet the team during a post-meet autograph session.
The Opponent - Kansas
Kansas enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-1 this season, with a mutual win over South Dakota and a loss to Nebraska.
The Jayhawks and Cyclones last met earlier this season at the Hawkeye Invitational, where Kansas finished just fifth, just three places ahead of Iowa State who finished eighth in the team standings.
Last Time Out - Iowa
Iowa State is coming off a 105-194 loss to Iowa in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
The Cyclones earned two event victories, highlighted by Grace Swoboda, who broke the Iowa State school record and Beyer Pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:00.45. Anja Peck also captured first place in the 200 breaststroke, continuing her strong season for the Cyclones.
What to Watch For – Breaststroke & Diving
The breaststroke group has been a consistent source of points for the Cyclones, led by Swoboda and Peck, who have combined for multiple event wins and record-breaking performances this season.
On the boards, Iowa State's divers continue to progress while the entire squad continues to chase NCAA Zone qualifying scores as the postseason approaches.
On Deck – Big 12 Championships
Following Friday's dual, the Cyclones will shift their focus to the Big 12 Championships, set for later this month in Greensboro, North Carolina, as Iowa State looks to carry its late-season momentum into postseason competition.
