AMES, Iowa – Iowa State 157-pounder Vinny Zerban has received an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships March 19-21 in Cleveland, Ohio. With Zerban's inclusion in the championship field, Iowa State will send 10 wrestlers to the national tournament for the first time since 2010.
Iowa State is one of six teams nationally, and one of two in the Big 12, to qualify 10 wrestlers (Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Nebraska). This marks the eighth-consecutive season under head coach Kevin Dresser Iowa State has sent eight-plus qualifiers to the national tournament.
Zerban, ranked No. 8 nationally at 157 pounds by InterMat, put together an impressive regular season before medically withdrawing from the Big 12 Championship last weekend after one match, which left him without an automatic NCAA berth.
The Cyclone owns a 15-4 season record with two of his four losses being medical forfeits. Zerban has four victories over top-15 opponents to his name this season and seven wins via bonus-point margin (4 TF, 3 MD).
Zerban will look to finish on the podium for the second-straight season after a 6th-place All-America finish last year in Philadelphia.
Official brackets and seeds for the 2026 NCAA Championships will be announced on NCAA.com at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
