AZUSA, Calif. – The Cyclones began action at the Bryan Clay Invite and Mt. SAC Relays Thursday night.
The duo of Mercyline Kirwa and Betty Kipkore started out the Bryan Clay Invite on a high note, racing in the fast invite section of the 10,000m under the lights. The two built their way up the pack, going on to finish second and third.
Kirwa went sub-32 minutes with 31:51.89, while Kipkore went 32:02.45. The times now rank as the third- and fourth-fastest performances in Iowa State history.
For the men running in the invite 10,000m, Robin Kwemoi Bera clocked 28:15.36 for 10th and Rodgers Kiplimo 28:40.87 for 19th. Both opened their season with the race.
Justice Miller began action at the Mt. SAC Relays, the lone event at the meet Thursday for ISU, competing in the javelin invite elite. Miller took eighth with a best mark of 192-6 (58.69m).
The Bryan Clay Invite and Mt. SAC Relays continue tomorrow.
