LAS VEGAS – Iowa State (5-4, 0-0 Big 12) was swept by UCLA (7-2, 0-0 Big Ten) by set scores of 20-25, 22-25, 15-25 Friday at the Lucky Aces Volleyball Invite. Rachel Van Gorp hit the milestone of 1,000 career digs on the night.
Totaling 11 in the match, Van Gorp now totals 1,008 on her career to rank 17th in ISU history. Van Gorp is the 19th Cyclone in program history to cross the barrier. The libero's late mother, Janice Ninemire, was the second in ISU history to hit 1,000 career digs.
Van Gorp now enters the top 10 in Iowa State history totaling 58 10-plus dig matches on her career.

SET ONE
After Mesaiya Bettis put down a kill to start things out at 2-1, ISU, UCLA took the next five to cause an early Iowa State timeout. Down by as much as four, ISU came back to take its first lead at 10-9 on a UCLA attack error. Bettis put down her third kill to give ISU the 15-14 advantage at the media timeout, and following the break Van Gorp served to an ace. The Bruins flipped the lead at 19-18 after two aces, and went on to make it a 6-0 run. UCLA kept the lead and took the opener 25-20.
SET TWO
A solo block by Pam McCune knotted the score at 5s in the early goings of the second. Ti'a put down a match-leading seventh kill as ISU went up 9-8, and again at 11-10 after a long rally ending with a D'Aaliyah Kemp kill. No lead was safe as UCLA went ahead 15-13 after taking three straight. Iowa State continued the fight, coming within one at 18-17 on a rally that included Van Gorp's 1,000th dig. After a successful ISU challenge to correct the score to 23-21, UCLA, the Cyclones also took the next point to again come within a point but UCLA answered taking the next two and the set 25-22.
SET THREE
The third was a battle at the start with seven ties before either team hit 10. Iowa State won its second challenge to flip the score from 13-11 to 12-12 after an Alea Goolsby attack was ruled a kill. UCLA would lead at the media timeout, and after the Bruins stretched a run of four to make it 17-13, Iowa State called for a timeout. UCLA continued to lead hitting 20 first (20-14) as ISU hit under .100 in the frame. The Bruins only allowed one more Cyclone point as they sealed the sweep. Ti'a ended the match as the lone Cyclone with double-figure kills totaling 10.
