The Iowa State Dance Team consists of two squads, the Gold and Cardinal Squad. Both squads perform for football, men's basketball, and women's basketball. Numbers on each squad vary each year and are at the discretion of the coaches. The Dance Team also competes at NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.

TRYOUT INFORMATION - TBD
The Iowa State University Dance Team tryout process will be in person the following dates with potential cuts made throughout the weekend.
Cost: $25.00 per dancer: Registration Link & Dance Team Tryout Application (must complete BOTH links)
The following elements will be required for tryouts:
*SKILLS SECTION
- Leaps – straight, center, switch, turning disc, etc.
- Toe touch/Split Jump
- Turns – Tripe/quad, fouetté sequence consisting of 4 + turns, etc.
- Elite turn set – variety of fouetté turns with variations in legs/arms (a 2 or 3 eight count sequence)
- Tricks – walkovers, back walkovers, aerials, leg extensions, flexibility skills, etc.
- Hip Hop skills – headsprings, rubber bands, etc.
*ROUTINE SECTION
Below are the styles that will be taught:
- Jazz Routine
- Pom Routine (Fight Song)
- Hip Hop Routine
- Contemporary/Lyrical Routine
- Dancers that makes it to the FINAL CUT will be asked to complete a 1-minute solo(style of their choice)
Expectations
All Dance Team members are expected to attended the following:
- Attendance at all practices
- Workout program outside of practices
- Attendance at all home football games and basketball games as assigned
- Attendance at break games as assigned
- Attendance at basketball post-season tournament games
- Attendance at assigned or requested appearances
- Participation in all competitive events
Academics:
Enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours at Iowa State University each semester.
Maintain a 2.0 Cumulative GPA throughout time on squad.
Fundraising:
Participation in all fundraising efforts and events required of the Spirit Squads.
Other:
Participation in dance squad for entire year spans (trying out for partial year participation is not allowed).
Compliance of all rules and regulations set forth by Athletic Department and Spirit Squad coaches.
