Ryan Snider served as an Iowa State gymnastics coach for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Snider was named as an assistant coach to the Iowa State gymnastics program on July 5, 2023, following a six-year stint as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh. Coach Greig then promoted Snider to Associate Head Coach on May 17, 2024, following one year with the team where he helped institute the largest single season turnaround in school history. Ryan oversaw both vault and bars events for the Cyclones and also helped run day-to-day activities and practices.
2025
In his final season at ISU and first as Associate Head Coach, Snider had the vault squad leading the charge, as vault finished 33rd nationally in the end of season ranks - the highest of any Cyclone apparatus. The vault team earned a team event high, 49.2, in a home tri-meet against both NC State and Denver. The bars team produced a season-high score of 48.975 on Jan. 31 against Arizona State.
2024
Snider, along with fellow assistant coach Haylee Young, helped implement the biggest turnaround in school history during his first season on staff with Coach Greig. The Cyclones finished the 2023 season ranked 44 by Road to Nationals and by the end of 2024, the team ranked 29. The 15-spot rise was the largest jump in the country.
In the first month of the season, Snider's vault squad earned its highest event score of the year, a 49.350, against BYU - the eighth-highest team vault score in program history. In the same meet against the Cougars, Snider's bars lineup earned a 39.250 - its highest event score of the season.
Prior to Iowa State
At Pitt, Ryan worked under the direction of his wife, head coach Samantha Snider.
Snider began his assistant coaching career in July of 2017 when the Panthers hired him to their staff. During his time in the Steel City, Snider oversaw both bars and vault.
During his time as Panthers assistant, he saw his student-athletes set program bests on both bars (49.275) and vault (49.325). Five of the top ten bests in bars and four of the top ten marks on vault came from athletes under his direction.
In 2014, Snider joined the Arkansas women’s gymnastics program as a team manager before being named the volunteer assistant coach in 2015. As a volunteer assistant specializing in vault, Snider helped the Razorbacks score a 49.000 or better in 11 of 13 meets in 2016. The 2016 Arkansas squad finished with a final RQS of 49.160 ranking 11th in the nation.
A 2017 Arkansas graduate, Snider began his gymnastics coaching career as the head coach of Aerial Athletics in San Antonio. Over his time with Aerial Athletics, he coached more than 30 state, regional and national champions while also guiding more than 15 athletes to full-ride scholarships.
