Brad Baker joined the Iowa State Athletics Department as Director of Operations for Olympic Sports in June of 2019. Baker currently oversees travel and lodging, catered meals, game day logistics and all other operational duties for the Iowa State soccer, tennis, swimming & diving and men’s and women’s golf teams.
Baker returns to Ames to work at his alma mater with tremendous experience in athletics operations under his belt. Prior to arriving at Iowa State, Baker was at Brown University, where he served as the Director of Football Operations, overseeing the planning of recruiting visits, team events and banquets, as well as prospect camps.Â
Prior to his tenure at Brown, Baker was the Director of Football Operations & NFL Liaison at Bryant University for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Working for the Bulldogs' football program, Baker was charged with the coordination and execution of on-campus recruiting visits, planning all team travel, award banquets and prospect camps. He also coordinated a Pro Day with four different universities, allowing student-athletes an opportunity to workout for NFL scouts. During his time at Bryant, Baker launched a new football alumni network, encouraging alumni to join a mentoring program for current Bulldog football student-athletes.
Baker's resume extends even beyond the world of collegiate athletics, having worked as a training camp operations intern for the Chicago Bears from 2013-16. He served as a contact point assisting players and staff, coordinated schedule and practice changes with players and coaching staff, and was responsible for all communication and mail on a daily basis. Baker's duties extended to the facilitation of new player arrivals with the Chicago Bears' scouting department and camp security, meal check-ins and post-camp housing.
During the fall of 2015, Baker served as the Coordinator of Football Operations at Princeton University, while also taking charge of the program's social media platforms. During his time at Princeton, Baker took on a bevy of day-to-day tasks, including game operations, travel, recruiting receptions and team meals. He was also charged with maintaining a recruiting database to assist Tiger coaches and staff with their recruiting efforts. In his work with Princeton's social media accounts, Baker developed a new brand identity for the football program and increased its social media following by 39.7 percent.
Baker completed his Bachelor's degree at Iowa State in 2014, and also served as a student assistant in football operations and recruiting while completing his undergraduate work in Ames. During the 2012-14 seasons, Baker served as the primary contact for the Cyclone football program's daily team meals. He assisted the director of football operations with signing day, fall camp, summer camps, coaches clinics and tracked all 100+ players' class attendance and academic status weekly. Baker also assisted in bowl game prep and the screening of recruit film.
