Completed Event: Softball versus DMACC on September 17, 2025

Since McEachran’s arrival in September 1980, he has coached nine high jumpers who’ve recorded marks of 7-0 or better, nine athletes who’ve long-jumped at least 25-0 and five triple jumpers with marks beyond 53-0. Oilver Koenig is the latest Cyclone to surpass the 25-foot mark. Koenig leapt a career-best 26-3 at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn second-place and All-American status. Cyclone field event personnel have also established four conference records and 16 school marks during his tenure. Sixteen of his athletes have received All-America recognition and McEachran has helped guide the Cyclones to 34 total All-America performances and two all-time Big Eight records. McEachran’s pupils have included NCAA champions Scott Crowell (discus) and Brian Tietjens (high jump). Twenty-six Big Eight titlists worked under McEachran’s guidance.
A native of Belvidere, Ill., McEachran was a football, basketball and track standout at Belvidere High School. He was a four-year track standout at Northern Illinois, where he set the school record in the hammer throw.
McEachran has been a featured speaker at clinics throughout the nation and has produced two series of instructional videos. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois, where he served as an assistant coach during the 1972-73 school year. McEachran and his wife Ellen reside in Nevada. He is the father of two daughters, Heather and Jacklyn.
