After a 13th place finish at the 2002 NCAA indoor championships, Lee graduated five-time Big 12 shot put champion and six-time All-American Lisa Griebel, who was also the fifth-place finisher at U.S. Track and Field Outdoor Championships in 2001. Another loss to graduation was two-time All-American and two-time Big 12 pentathlon champion Barbara Szlendakova and indoor NCAA All-American and Big 12 800-meter champion, Lenka Kalabova.
