Cyclone Softball Goes 3-0 at Bulldog Classic

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team went 3-0 last weekend at the Bulldog Classic in Des Moines, Iowa. The Cyclones defeated Truman State, 6-0, Grandview, 9-4 and Drake, 4-0.
ISU shutout Truman State, 6-0 with the help of junior Erica Martinez who had one home run and three RBI. Adi Blackmon was 2-3 while Julia Lindsay was 3-of-4 at the plate. Junior hurler Jen Bice recorded the victory giving up four hits and fanning 10.
Iowa State went extra innings to edge Grandview, 9-4 in eight innings. Katy Raby was 2-of-5 at the plate with one home run and a double while tallying three RBI. Martinez was 1-of-1 with one home run. Martinez pitched five innings picking up the win, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out six.
The Cyclones shutout Drake, 4-0 as Bice recorded her second victory of the tournament. She gave up three hits and struck out four. Martinez was 1-of-2 at the plate with one double while Ruby had a triple. Kelly Wardein also contributed a hit for ISU.
Iowa State travels to Iowa City this weekend to compete in the Iowa Classic tournament. The Cyclones will face Drake, Iowa and Northern Iowa.
