DALLAS -- Oklahoma State's Trisha Skibbe was selected Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Iowa State's Lyndsey Medders was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week for games from Dec. 1-8, the conference office announced Monday.
Players are nominated by each school's sports information office and voted on by a panel of media who cover Big 12 women's basketball.
Medders, a 5-9 freshman point guard, scored 21 points and dished nine assists in a double-overtime win over instate rival Iowa. She sank 6-of-10 shots from the floor and knocked down two of her five three-point attempts while adding four rebounds. At Wisconsin, the Los Angeles, Calif., native drained 6-of-8 field goals, including her only three-point try for 15 points. She also had five assists and a season-best four steals against the Badgers. Medders is tied for second in the Big 12 with 5.75 assists per game.
