ISU's Kristen Karanzias Named to the 2004 Greek Olympic Softball Team

AMES, Iowa ? Kristen Karanzias, a sophomore pitcher on the Iowa State softball team, was named to the 2004 Greek Olympic Team. Greece is one of eight teams vying for the Olympic Gold Medal in Athens, Greece, Aug. 13-29.

Karanzias is one of 18 players on the team. Team Greece opens its portion of the 2004 Olympic Games with a game against China on Aug. 14. Karanzias played on the Greek National Team last summer that traveled through Hawaii, Italy, and Greece.

Former Cyclone Erin (Woods) White was named to the Canadian Olympic Team earlier this spring. White, who played at Iowa State from 1996-99, will be taking part in the Olympic Games for the second time. Team Canada placed eighth in the 2000 Atlanta Games. Canada opens its portion of the Games on Aug. 14 against Chinese Taipei.
