ATLANTA - The Iowa State women's basketball team ranked third nationally among Division I schools with a 3.480 team grade point average in 2003-04. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its 2003-04 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, recognizing the nation's highest GPAs in each division.
"At Iowa State, we have always strived to be one of the most well-rounded programs in the nation and this academic excellence combined with what we have done on the court really validates what are all about," ISU head coach Bill Fennelly said. "When you combine this with our great ranking every year in attendance, you can see that everyone involved in Iowa State women's basketball is committed to making this program very special in every way."
The Cyclones had five players on the academic all-Big 12 team and 10 student-athletes on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring semester. Fennelly's Cyclones have earned national academic All-America honors four times, district academic All-America honors nine times and academic all-conference recognition 46 times in his nine seasons at ISU.
