Cyclone Duo Falls in Second Round of Qualifying Singles Action at Regionals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Cyclone netters Kara Hickey, Danielle Uscinski and Elizabeth Chermel hit the courts Wednesday in qualifying round action at the Wilson ITA Central Regional Championships.
Chermel defeated Mari Castello (Montanta), 6-1, 6-2. Chermel went on to battle No. 1 seed Annette Aksdal of Denver with Aksdal winning 6-1, 7-6 (3). Uscinski took on Montana State's Nicole Luetolf and won 6-3, 6-4. In Uscinski's second match of the day, she fell to Lucy Scott of New Mexico, 6-4, 6-1. Hickey faced No. 1 seed Veera Nurmi of Colorado. Nurmi won the match 6-1, 6-0.
Tournament play for both singles and doubles will begin Thursday morning and will continue through Sunday at the University of Utah's Eccles Tennis Center.
