AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's Anne O'Neil was voted to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District VII Women's Basketball Academic All-America first team and will be placed on the national ballot. This is the second-straight season O'Neil has earned the honor.
O'Neil ranks first nationally in 3-point percentage (52.2) and 35th in free throw percentage (84.6) The 5-11 senior guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, leads the Cyclones in scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg). She owns a 3.86 grade point average in communications studies.
The District VII first and second teams are comprised of 10 student-athletes. This is the 13th time an Iowa State women's basketball player has earned district academic All-America recognition and the 10th time during head coach Bill Fennelly's tenure.
