AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State women's basketball player Anne O'Neil is one of five Kodak/WBCA District 5 All-Americans that will be placed on the national All-America ballot. She adds the district award to a long list of achievements this season, including first-team all-conference and academic All-America honors.
The 5-11 senior guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, leads the Cyclones in scoring with 16.7 points per game and shoots 50 percent from 3-point range. She is a two-time all-Big 12 Conference selection and earned first-team academic all-league honors three times.
O'Neil is the fourth Iowa State women's basketball player to earn Kodak district All-America honors. Angie Welle was a 2000 and 2002 selection, Jayme Olson earned 1997 honors and Stephannie Smith was ISU's first honoree in 1987.
The list of 48 finalists from eight regions was voted upon by Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) members. A 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America team will be announced April 2.
