Bill Fennelly Named Region 5 Coach of the Year

ATLANTA -- Iowa State women's basketball head coach Bill Fennelly was named Region 5 Coach of the Year by Russell Athletic and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). LSU first-year head coach Pokey Chatman earned national coach of the year honors.
Fennelly directed the Cyclones to their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and a 23-7 record this season. He posted the 12th 20-win season of his 17-year career and the sixth in his 10 years at Iowa State.
Fennelly, who was also a Naismith finalist this season, earned WBCA district honors in 1999.
