AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's Anne O'Neil was voted to the five-member 2005 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Women's Basketball Academic All-America first team. A two-time all-district selection, O'Neil is just the second Cyclone to earn first-team honors.
The 5-11 senior guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, leads the Cyclones in scoring with 16.6 points per game while shooting a league-best 50.9 percent from 3-point range. She owns a 3.86 grade point average in communications studies with a sociology minor.
Four Iowa State women's basketball student-athletes have been selected to the academic All-America national ranks a total of five times, all during head coach Bill Fennelly's tenure.
