AMES, Iowa - Jack Easley has been elevated to the position of associate head coach for the Iowa State women's basketball program, head coach Bill Fennelly announced today. Easley has been an assistant coach on Fennelly's staff the last two seasons.
"Coach Easley is one of the most respected coaches in the country," Fennelly said. "This title recognizes his experience, expertise and impact over an outstanding career. He has certainly made a major impact as a part of our program at Iowa State."
Easley came to ISU in May of 2003 as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of Big 12 Conference basketball knowledge to Ames. The former Missouri high school and community college head coach spent 19 seasons as an assistant at Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls compiled a 350-244 record during his tenure, including seven 20-win seasons, seven NCAA Tournament berths, two WNIT appearances and three Big Eight Conference championships. Easley spent one season at Providence College before Fennelly brought him to Iowa State.
The Kansas City, Mo., native has helped Iowa State to a 41-22 record in two seasons at Iowa State, including consecutive postseason berths. ISU advanced to the semifinals of the 2004 Women's National Invitation Tournament and earned a 2005 NCAA bid, returning to the Big Dance for the first time in three years. Easley mentored the Cyclone post players, including all-Big 12 performer Katie Robinette.
"The new title is an honor, but even more appreciated was the opportunity Iowa State and Coach Fennelly gave me to become a part of one of the best women's basketball programs in the nation," Easley said.
