Fennelly Recuperating After Medical Procedure

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State women's basketball head coach Bill Fennelly underwent a microlaryngoscopy with laser excision on Friday morning. The procedure removed a nodule on the vocal chord which tested cancerous. The prognosis is excellent and Fennelly is resting at home.
Test results to determine if the cancer is either superficial or invasive should be available early next week. An additional growth on the other vocal chord will be either removed or treated with radiation after several weeks, depending on the results of the tests. Meanwhile, Fennelly is on strict vocal rest for at least two weeks.
